Letter to the British Library
I got permission to take pictures and sound recordings ahead of the aforementioned visit to Central Library. As I'm considering a trip to London to document The British Library, I decided to mail a request rather than phone. Hopefully I'll get a reply that I can post here to illustrate one part of the development process. Meantime, I've included pictures of the letter that was sent.
I thought it would be more appropriate to emulate the kind of dimensions that typify a lot of books and address the envelope in portrait. (The font is Caslon, by the way.) It's just a very small thing, but what was interesting was just how different it subsequently looked as an object.
