Marks on carbon paper

I did some playing around in my sketchbook where the shape of the staircases in the Britsish Library was reinterpreted using bits of collage. To do it I used carbon paper to repeat the outlines on different surfaces. What I liked better than the collages themselves were the marks that it left on the carbon paper. The surface has a quality like leather and I'm thinking thatI might use the effect for something else. I'm particularly thinking that something typographic might look interesting using this method. Or perhaps a part of the tessellated geometry.
